Maiolica, painted in colours
Cooperativa Artigiana Ceramisti Faentini (CACF), Faenza, Italy, c.1948
38 cms diam.
A large charger in excellent condition, beautifully painted in colours over a tin glaze, with a central pastoral roundel after François Boucher, the border painted with grotteschi and small landscape roundels.
The CACF was founded immediately after the second world war by a group of 13 ceramicists with the intention of breathing life back into the traditional ceramic industries of Faenza. Increasingly influential, and joined by a series of distinguished maiolica decorators, their works are of consistently high quality.
